John Gibbel Photography, Los Angeles Architectural Photographer specializing in residential custom and model homes. See The Difference In Image Quality With High End Digital Photography I recently upgraded my equipment and now shoot all projects with a Leaf Aptus 75, a 33 megapixel medium format digital back on a Cambo Wide DS camera. The advantage of shooting with a medium format digital back is the depth of color and the three dimensional look that traditional 35mm digital camera’s do not offer. This allows me to capture even more detail than tradional 4x5 film and to share images with my clients on almost a daily basis. In addition, digital delivery of images allows for a cost savings with the new California tax-exempt laws. Lighting Techniques That Translate Beautiful Spaces Into Inspiring Images The state of the art equipment that I use represents just the beginning. The key to talking a great photograph is quality lighting. A great photograph, one that captures the unique architectural features of each and every space, requires time and patience. As you look through my portfolios of images, you will notice that each one has been given the attention that great architecture and design deserves. In The Beginning I grew up in a house with a custom built darkroom that had been built for my brother and went unused for years. One day I borrowed my oldest brothers Minolta camera until I discovered I could upgrade to my other brothers Nikon camera. I was then inspired to turn the unused darkroom into a working darkroom. I experimented with lots of film and photo paper, as I taught myself the ins and outs of the photographic process spending hours in the darkroom. Through high school and college photography classes I learned the apperception of photography as a creative art form. I then ventured off to NYC to further learn the creative art of photography in the big city. After spending almost 9 years working in different studios and production companies I developed my own clients and shooting style. I have taken that style and brought it back home to Los Angeles. My inspiration for people, products and places has given me the freedom to work with Architects. Design firms, and ad agencies creating advertising campaigns, annual report and award winning images. When I am not behind the camera or in front of the computer I spend quality time playing with my 2-year-old son, and enjoying life with my wife.
